How to install MS-DOS (eXoDos 4.0) pack for HyperSpin :

/ Download eXoDos 4.0 (I don’t share links here , you have to find it yourself on the web)

/ Launch and setup Setup.bat file (in root directory of d’eXoDos 4.0)

/ Move all 7000 games *.zip contained into directory “..\eXoDOS\Games\” to the directory “..\eXoDOS\” , just let into directory “..\eXoDOS\Games\” the folder “!dos” – with all inside 😉

/ Add a new system to  HyperSpin and RocketLauncher named : “MS-DOS”

/ For medias files contained into “MS-DOS (HyperSpin medias for eXoDos 4.0).7z” , do that : Download medias pack into menu “Download”  (6 parts of 700 Mo ) Extract archive then move directory “MS-DOS” into HyperSpin medias directory “..\HYPERSPIN\Media\”

/ for XML files contained into “MS-DOS (HyperSpin databases for eXoDos 4.0).7z” , do that  : Download XML databases from menu “Download” Extract archive then move directory “MS-DOS” to HyperSpin databases directory “..\HYPERSPIN\Databases\” and to rocketlauncher databases directory “..\RocketLauncher\RocketLauncherUI\Databases\”

/ For RocketLauncher module , do that : Download new module files from menu “Download”. Extract archive , then copy and replace old files from directory “..\RocketLauncher\Modules\DOSBox” with new files.

/ For RocketLauncherUI.exe , do that : Select your system “MS-DOS” , on “Settings” in “7z” : enabled = true , attach system name = false , in “extract path” select directory “..\eXoDOS\Games\” (where is located folder “!dos”) . When you will launch a game , it will be unpacked into  “..\eXoDOS\Games\” if you don’t want keep unpacked files, choose Delete Temporary = True , some games use a save file and will be deleted. Then on “Settings” in “settings” : Skip Checks = rom only On “Emulators” , in “rom Paths” add folder that contains all games *.zip. ( where you have moved them into “..\eXoDOS\” ) Then on “current emulator list…” add : Name = DosBox , path = “..\eXoDOS\dosbox\DOSBox.exe” , rom extensions = 7z|zip , Module = DosBox (version is still 2.0.8 but with a little code changed to be compatible)  , then save. Finaly , on “Default Emulator” select “DosBox (Global)”

/ Phew it’s over ! Now you can play to 7000 MS-DOS Games 🙂

? / To recover hard disk space, delete unnecessary files as follows: Open an “explorer” window and go to the directory “..\eXoDOS\Games\” , in the upper right window there is “search” : type “Meagre” (without quotes). When all  “Meagre” files are shown : delete them all tous as well as their content (they are not necessary to operate in HyperSpin) Open an “explorer” window then go to directory “..\eXoDOS\” , let in this directory only the 7000 games *.zip and folders “\capture”,”\dosbox”,”\Games”,”\mt32″,”\scummvm”,”\util” (the rest is not necessary to operate in HyperSpin)   Open an “explorer” window then go to root directory  “..\eXoDOS” , here let only folder “\eXoDos” containing all the games and directories listed above. That’s it, if you want to gain even more space to have “only” 388 GB instead of 474 GB, convert all * .zip games to * .7z with compression in * .7z with Hyper7z application available here, it takes a lot of time, but the gain of space is consequent 🙂
